As COVID-19 continues to change our daily lives, it's important to remember the core values of sailing, embodied in both the Corinthian Spirit, and Racing Rules of Sailing. It is in these troubled times sailors, power boaters and land lubbers' must come together to help our beleaguered friends in healthcare.
Rainbow Races Inc. is asking for your help by bringing together the many talents, and resources of the boating community. Above you will find options to donate or participate however you feel most comfortable.
We are raising funds to help purchase materials needed to construct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to be distributed to facilities experiencing a shortage and keep our front line, and healthcare workers safe. We are also raising funds to purchase food from local restaurants for our healthcare workers. You can donate any combination of the represented denominations, all donations are tax deductible.
We are also encouraging those with sewing skills to pull their machines out and stitch with some of the best (at home of course). Jackson Park Yacht Clubs' own Leslie Travis has many patterns and is coordinating the creation of PPE with others. If this interests you, click on the volunteer button. If you have materials you'd be willing to donate, a 3D printer we can use, or another way you'd like to help also fill out the volunteer form, and let us know. Lets pool our talents to help those in danger on the front lines.

Face Masks
To date, Leslie Travis and Team have constructed over 2,500 already made masks, including sew at home kits. A feat that could not have been accomplished without the generous support of UK Sailmakers. Surgical Cap
To date we have constructed hundreds of these in two styles: The Brainiac Beanie, and a standard Surgical Cap with ties in back. Both have buttons sewn on to prevent wounds to ears.
Face Shields
Several hundred face shields have been constructed, and distributed. Cut by UK Sailmakers, sewn by Leslie Travis and team.
Isolation Gowns
UK Sailmakers, Leslie and Team have constructed about 100 of these so far.
Where Things Have Done
So far, we have constructed/provided close to 10,000 items of PPE. Provided materials to hundreds of people willing to pick up the mask kits to sew at home.
We have also assisted the following institutions with their PPE needs:

- First Responders with the Chicago Fire Department
